Another GREAT meeting of the ACCU!!!
The Antrim County Conservative Union held their monthly meeting this past Monday (3rd Monday of the month) March 18th, 2019 at the Forest Home Township Hall.
More guests attended the meeting for the very first time and ended up becoming paid members.
Many topics were discussed and will be in the Secretary’s Report and posted on this website.
Please consider attending our next monthly meeting, on Monday April 15th, 2019 at 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm. Forest Home Township Hall, 321 N. Bridge Street, Bellaire, MI.

Dear Editor,
The Antrim County Conservative Union (ACCU) is totally AGAINST Gov. Whitmer’s proposed state budget of $60.2 Billion (3.6% INCREASE over Michigan’s current budget) and her proposed $.45 per gallon INCREASE in our fuel taxes ($10 extra on every average fill-up), which would become the highest in America.
After being the ONLY state in the Country to lose population (2010 U.S. Census) we will once again see Michigan losing population after the 2020 census.
The over taxation, wasteful spending and outdated models operating in Lansing,…MUST STOP NOW!
ACCU believes that Lansing must perform a “forensic accounting” of EVERY department and reduce their budgets, to find the dollars necessary to repair our roads and bridges, WITHOUT raising our state’s budget/fuel taxes any further.
Michigan needs to pass reforms to; a) Cut our car insurance rates, by 50%. (Michigan is #1 in having the highest rates in America) b) Lower our electric rates by eliminating the current 90% monopoly. c) Eliminate our State’s Income Tax. d) Return Lansing to a Part-Time Legislature, which we had until 1963.
ACCU meets the 3rd Monday of each month (next meeting 3-18-19), at the Forest Home Township Hall, in Bellaire at 7:30 pm.

Response to this week’s, 2-7-19 “Letter to the Editor” in the Elk Rapids News by John Hunter, Traverse City, MI
Dear Editor,
I simply could not stand by and allow a resident of Traverse City (Grand Traverse County) author a “Letter to the Editor” filled with his numerous and obvious agenda driven misrepresentations, innuendoes, false statements, and lies.
We created the Antrim County Conservative Union (ACCU) as a “Social Education Club” with an IRS 501C-4 application pending, to be a non-profit organization. All of our officers and board members are volunteers, without receiving any pay or compensation.
Unlike the Republican and Democrat political parties who do “funnel dark monies” into their bank accounts, any administrative expenditures the ACCU makes will be made fully public at each of our monthly meetings per our Treasurer’s report. Our checking account’s register will be displayed on an overhead projector for everyone to see,…so there will be nothing to hide or anything for the general public to “keep an eye on”.

Our mission is to provide valuable information to the general public so that they can make fully informed decisions when voting in both primary and general elections.
We do not have a “GoFundMe” account, period! For the author to state that we are a “mysterious GoFundMe scheme”, is a complete misrepresentation and lie.
Finally, we are not allowed to endorse or publicly support any candidates and therefore will NOT be running any “late campaign ads we all find so nauseating” with “funneled dark money”, again another falsehood by the author.
I find it interesting that John Hunter from Traverse City has never attended any of our meetings, does not personally know any of our officers, board members or members of our organization, but produces a completely uneducated, agenda driven opinion piece about our organization and then asked this good newspaper to publish it publicly.

We, therefore, ask our President to join us in our outrage and demonstrate his disgust with his “Home State” of New York by changing his personal residency to another State in America.
Mr. President,…you already own a personal residence in Florida and they don’t have any State Income Tax either!!!
Antrim County Conservative Union – “Letter to the Editor”
The Antrim County Conservative Union is a new organization and has been set up as an advocacy/educational group to provide the conservative view to the Antrim County Republican Party to ensure it moves in the right direction and supports Conservative candidates and policies.
It is affiliated with both the State and National Conservative Unions.
It meets the third Monday of every month, 7:30 – 9:00 pm at the Forest Home Twp Office, where the Antrim County Republican Party used to gather.
It’s objective is not to replace the Antrim County Republican Party, but to help guide it and help the People know the positions of candidates for office. With knowledge comes good political decisions.
The Antrim County Conservative Union (a 501C-4) will raise funds and make them available to educate the public on issues and the positions of candidates. The identities of all donors will be kept
In short order, I believe it will become the premier political organization in Antrim County and as such Unions are established in other counties, with major grass roots members, they all will be seen as the REAL Conservative organizations in Michigan.
I hope you will attend its next meeting and become a member.
